i hate to do this but.....

so i really do hate to do this, but i signed up for an adsense account. i am sorry if that pisses you off, but i really would like free money from google. hopefully the ads will not be in the way, and if they are i will move them. just leave a comment about it i really dont mind. they will either be added in the next 48 hours, or they will reject my application like douchebags.

EDIT: instead of rejecting my application, they made me fill out tax crap, and a billing address and all that, and now i am told that i am paid 0.000000005 cents per click on an ad. i am sure i get a TON of traffic on this blog, and everybody clicks on the ads too, so i flipped google the bird and removed the ads. enjoy!

so since i provide no review of soder........

postobon apple flavored soda.

what an odd design for an apple soda can. a bunch of pink bubbles pink stripes, and a red ketchup smear under the logo. this JUST FRICKIN SCREAMS BUBBLEGUM SODA!!!!!. it also says apple in four different languages all around the top of the can. apple manzana pomme mela and apfel. despite this being a foreign looking drink, it still has hfcs.  also it gives the real amount of ml in a 12 oz can- 354. most just round it off to 355. well hopefully this will be as good as the previous apple soda i tried- sidral mundet.

smell: like apples. not just apple juice it actually smells like sliced apples. blegh. hopefully it will taste better than that.

taste: WOW. this is really good! its still somewhat like apples, but also tastes like bubblegum (which was to be expected) but also some sort of other fruitiness that is hard to pinpoint. no bad aftertaste either. actually theres some strange but delicious flavor that lingers a while after your done drinking.

overall: buy a palette! this is a very great apple soda. its even better than sidral mundet which as you may recall i rated very favorably. its not over the top sweet either which i like.

sidral mundet

as odd as it sounds, this soda which is mexican is impossible to find near me, but i found it in maine. albeit overpriced and in a mexican restaurant. although i took spanish in middle school, i still have no idea what sidral mundet means. luckily it says apple soda in english on the bottle. this is weird because apple in spanish is manzana, and it says that nowhere on the bottle. it being apple put me off at first because i HATE apples and apple products. but i cannot let my hatred get in the way of my quest to try every soda in existance. this soda is also almost always sold alongside with jarritos sodas, which have a similarly cool shaped and textured bottle. there doesnt seem to be any connection between the two brands, as they each have their own website and jarritos isnt mentioned anywhere on the bottle or website.

smell: bleh. apple juice. sweeter but still appley enough for me to hate it. ugh.

taste: mmmmm- very appley, but also much sweeter and lighter than normal apple juice. the carbonation level is very low, but it still doesnt go flat fast. very very good, especially considering that i REALLY HATE apple. it also tasted very dry to me, but that may just be because there was no ac in the mexican restaurant and i was really thirsty.

overall: buy a case! this stuff tastes great even to somebody who hates apple. though it wasnt cheap at 2.75 plus tax but that may just be because it in maine, which is as far away from mexico as you can get,  and it was in a very overpriced tourist town. if you can find it anywhere else which you probably can, its a must buy!

mug cream soda

so heres an odd one- a drink made by a national company, but is still so rare i didnt even know it existed. a perfect example of why the bottling system national brands use sucks. each bottler is allowed to choose which drinks to bottle, and which ones not to. this leads to regional inequalities, the most painful of which is mountain dew livewire, my favorite of the dew flavors, which i havent seen in about 10 years. this is also why most fanta flavors other than orange are impossible to find in the us. and that is why most people dont know mug makes anything other than root beer. unless you live in maine, in which case you probably do know about this drink.

smell: vanilla. disappointing vanilla, just like every other cheap cream soda (which admittedly are pretty rare too).

taste: meh. just an average cream soda. of course i expected nothing more from a mug soda given that their root beer is also just as crappy as all the other cheap ones. but my standards are a bit unfair since im used to drinking virgils cream soda. i had a hard time drinking the whole bottle and thats really saying something because cream soda is one of my favorite sodas when done correctly. it also leaves the same horrible aftertaste mug root beer does, forcing you to keep drinking it. i am 100% sure that the reason this sucks so bad is that it uses corn syrup. cream soda seems to be like cola in that it is absolutely RUINED without real sugar.

overall: buyer beware! it doesnt taste horrible, but try it if you see it because you probably wont ever see it again. its really no different than any other cheap cream soda, and the vending machine i got it out of had much better options, as will wherever you might find it.

sea dog root beer

well this is the first in a series of reviews, like i said in my last post, i will do one each day of the sodas i got in maine.

so heres a soda native to maine, that at least to my knowledge cannot be found anywhere else. it also is made with cane sugar, which is expected from a locally made beverage. it also lists all the herbs and flavorings in it like anise, vanilla, and wintergreen oil, much like virgils root beer. it says its old style so im hoping that means better style and it wont be like every other crappy root beer.

smell: like every other crappy root beer. though virgils does too so the smell is no indication.

taste: very good! better than most root beers by a longshot, and is also very foamy instead of fizzy, if you can tell the difference, indicating that it is brewed and is real root beer so its carbonation is natural. it is similar to the legendary taste of a&w root beer before it was crappily reformulated with aged vanilla.

overall: buy a case! this is an exceptionally good root beer. if your ever in maine on vacation, this is a must buy, and is much better than most of the other sodas that can be found there.

maine delay

sorry for the delay, i was in maine for the week. fortunately there were a whole bunch of sodas there that are locally bottled, that i tried and wrote reviews for. i will post one of these every day until i run out, to make up for the delay. so once again, a random picture:

q kola

(yes thats a mameshiba plush in the background)

let me start off and say i am VERY frustrated at my computer because safari decided to "quit unexpectedly" as soon as i was done with this review and i lost all of it. luckily i still had some of this drink left so i can still do the review justice.

so this is an interesting beverage. its supposed to be a cola, but it spells cola with a "k" which is the real way to spell it. however it also shares that trait with inca kola, well known for tasting NOTHING like cola. the color of this is also a darker shade of inca kolas color. this does not bode well for q kola. its also in a very small 8 oz bottle, which kind of sucks because it costs 2.50 for ONE of these at whole foods. there is coriander in the ingredients list which is just another name for cilantro ( a very odd thing to put in a soda if you ask me) and let me just say that i HATE cilantro! read some stories at ihatecilantro if you think im crazy. well lets pop this open and see if it was worth it!

smell: very gingery. like a ginger beer but not as strong. it smells nothing like cola, which worries me. also i am also relieved that it doesnt have the soapy chemical scent that i get when i smell cilantro.

taste: disappointment. pure disappointment. this is less like a cola, it is more like a diluted ginger ale. at least i cant taste the cilantro, but i was expecting a lot more than this. the taste is very weak, more like a flavored soda water than an actual soda. it has a little spice in it, but still nothing at all like a cola.

overall: do not buy! this is very weak, and very overpriced. though my dad liked it, he only likes healthy drinks and stuff like that. you probably will be disappointed by it. if you want a "kola" that doesnt taste like cola, then try inca cola. at least that has a lot of flavor.

bawls guarana exxtra

bawls....... what an interesting name. and apparently the kind i bought has 50% more caffiene than the original, and is also sugar free!

packaging: a glass bottle with bumps all over it. kinda goes with the name, and provides an unneccesary but welcome grip.  it also says guaranexx on the bottle, but guarana exxtra on the cap. odd.

smell: there is very little scent, but smells like how sprite tastes, mixed with something fruity and artificial at the same time.

taste:  pretty good! like diet sprite but doesnt just taste like soda water with barely any flavoring. also that odd artificial-fruity smell comes out in the taste. im assuming thats the guarana im tasting, as thats what the original is flavored as. for an energy drink, this is VERY good tasting.

kick: ( note: this rating will NOT be included in reviews that arent energy drinks)
very nice. no jitters, and no crash since theres no sugar. kept me awake through an entire night of gaming.

overall: give it a try! i can see some not liking the taste or expecting an over the top buzz from the extra caffiene.

MY FIRST POST! :D

so this is my first post to my soda reviewing blog. dont really have anything too special to say, so ill say that i will try to post a soder review every week, until i run out of soders to review, after which it will slow down. so i hope this ends up as good as the other soda reviewers. also i have a scale for how good soders are:

do not buy: the drink is disgusting and putrid and should never be bought by anyone.
buyer beware: the drink is bad and not worth the money.
try a bottle/can/whatever: the drink is worth trying, but not great.
buy a case: the drink awesome and worth buying again.
buy a palette: extremely delicious. almost as good as it gets.
buy a shipping container: perfection. tastes godly.

for energy drinks i will include a rating for how much energy they give you, but i really hate rating that as there are so many variables that change the rating such as: how much sleep i got last night, whether i am exercising under the drinks effects, how fast i drink it, my caffeine tolerance on the day i try each drink, and the fact that every drink almost always has the same kick. but i have to include this because thats why energy drinks exist.

i dont really have anything else to say so i guess to entertain you, heres a random picture:
